Hemo Dialysis can seem scarey but you have to find that inner strength and courage and just move forward. Keep in mind all the things you want to go through this for. The people you love, the things you still want to experience in life, etc.
I have been on Peritoneal dialysis, had a transplant, rejected the transplant, went back on Peritoneal Dialysis, got Peritonitis (Peritoneal Infection) and went on Hemo Dialysis done via a chest catheter and then through my 2nd AV fistula (the first one failed after 10 days). Now I am having buttonholes establish in my fistula and I am happy about that since there were limited spots for them to cannulate me and I was already developing scar tissue. I have been on Hemo now since July 2005.
Sincerely,
Angie Essery
